“Keeping a hand on the pulse of today’s technology with eyes to the future”
From interactive panels, student computer stations, telephones and wireless access in every classroom to shared access to a computer lab per grade level, the Lexington City School System is rich in technology. In recent years, access to additional 1:1 Chromebooks as well as other handheld technology have been added to our system.
While the 2020-21 school year brought many challenges to our school system, we were well prepared to handle the curve balls that the pandemic threw us. During that time, we also upgraded all 275 phones in the district as well as replacing the aging Intercom System at our Elementary School. The focus of the 2021-22 school year will be the deployment of new wireless networks, network switches, and fiber backbones system-wide. PreK-1 will have the opportunity for 1:1 with netbooks. 2nd Grade students will be deployed new touch screen Chromebooks. 3-8 Grades are utilizing Chromebooks. Each student in grades 4-8 has the ability to take their Chromebooks home.
The Lexington City School System utilizes many online and server-based programs to monitor and assess student achievement. Such titles include:
Edmentum Exact Path
Star Early Literacy
Brain Pop Jr
Brain Pop Espanol
Student to computers: 1:1
