Amanda Lessenberry

  • I am currently in my 27th year in education, which have all been at Caywood Elementary. As an early childhood educator, I have been blessed throughout my career to work with children and their families in our Lexington community. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Union University in 1995. Then in 1998, I graduated from Freed-Hardeman with my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Recently, in 2023, I received my Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee State University. I now serve the Lexington City School System as PK-3 ELA and Social Studies Instructional Coach.
  • In addition to educational attainments, I have been honored to receive the Unity in Excellence Award in 2005, Ayers Scholar recipient in 2005, Citation for Meritorious Service, American Legion Auxiliary, in 2009, WBBJ Educator of the Week in 2017, and Caywood Educator of the Year in 2019.
  • I am married to Jerry Lessenberry and we have two wonderful children, Bailee and Trevor Lessenberry, who reside in Chattanooga, TN. I attend Bible Grove Missionary Baptist Church where I have worked with young children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In addition, I write Primary Sunday School literature for Missionary Baptist Literature that is published quarterly.
  • I am elated to serve students, teachers, and families of LCSS this school year.
