Special Education

Beth DeereBeth Deere, Director

Lexington City is committed to helping each child reach their full potential.  We believe that every student can learn, grow, and participate in high quality, research based instruction.  General education and special education providers work with students and parents to address the unique needs of each student.  Relevant Individual Education Plans ( IEP’s) are developed annually, modified as needed, and implemented by the team to ensure academic success for each special education student.  Developing Instructionally Appropriate IEP’s is necessary to ensure students receive high quality core instruction and intensive Glossary Linkintervention specific to their area(s) of deficit.  Generally special students receive 60-90 minutes of Reading Language Arts and math core instruction with their typically developing peers and an additional 30-45 minutes of instruction based on their individual area of deficit each day.
