PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Child Find: Special Needs Children

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act requires that all children with any type of disability receive a ‘free and appropriate education’. The Lexington City School System identifies and serves children, beginning at age 3, who are eligible for special education services.  Parents/Guardians are encouraged to contact the Lexington City Special Education Department if they believe their child should be served under this act. This includes children who reside within the city limits as well as children who attend private schools located within the city limits.  Families of children who are high school age should contact the Henderson County Special Education Department.

It is the policy of the Lexington City School System not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability.

If you believe your child might be eligible for special education services, please contact:
