SWHRA Foster Grandparents Program

Foster Grandparent Program

The Foster Grandparent Program provides personal services to children with special or exceptional needs by persons age 55+ with limited incomes. Grandparents provide special attention through social, emotional and educational support that school staff members often do not have the time to provide by working on a one-on-one basis with the children. To be eligible, applicants must be 55 years of age and meet income guidelines. Foster Grandparents volunteer four hours a day, five days a week. In return they receive an annual physical examination, a hot meal each day they serve, and transportation to and from assigned stations, if necessary. Foster Grandparents also receive a non-taxable stipend of $2.65 per hour. If you would like to inquire about becoming a Foster Grandparent, click here fgpsouthwest@gmail.com.
